It doesn’t matter if you are a movie
buff, a fashion lover or neither, everyone loves gawking over the couture gowns
gracing their way down the Oscars Red Carpet. What's making the red carpet more
interesting and inspiring lately are all the stunning eco-warrior celebs
choosing sustainable designs and rocking the red carpet.
This year’s winner of Suzy Amis
Cameron’s 'Red Carpet, Green Dress' initiative was this spectacular gown
designed by Michael Badger. British starlet and Bond girl – Naomie Harris had
the honour of wearing this stunning eco-conscious design down the red carpet
showing everyone that sustainable can be sexy!
Michael Badger is a fashion
design student at Savannah College of Art and Design and was mentored
through-out the design process by Vivienne Westwood (who is becoming a great campaigner
for climate change and fashion consumption habits - not to mention her iconic
flair for design.)
Inspired by the appearance of flowing
lava and volcanoes the dress was dyed with goldenrod and chamomile containing
no chemical pollutants with all the by-products ending straight up in the
compost bin. The gown was made from certified organic silk crepe de chine,
recycled zippers, vintage glass beads and chocolate candy wrappers -
incredible! I love how sustainability leads to innovative designs and concepts
such as this!
If you love these eco red carpet back
stories as much as me, keep an eye out for Livia Firths (Colin Firths other
half) Green Carpet Challenge as well.

II loved this dress! It was so slleek and sexy and bejeweled perfectly! I don't quite understand why critics gave it a thumbs down for the color and the high rise cut exposing the leg!
